Some Pet Stores Might Be Getting Their Puppies From Puppy Mills

It’s not easy to look at the face of a clean, plump and cute puppy and imagine that it might have come from an infamous puppy mill. Unfortunately it’s a sad but true fact that puppy mills do exist and that some pet stores selling puppies get their puppies from these puppy mills.

The whole problem arises not because of people wanting to buy their puppies from the pet store or because there is such a high demand for puppies, but simply because there are no proper laws or regulations governing these things, and what laws and regulations there are, are not enforced as they should be, due to any number of reasons.

What you need to look out for when getting your new puppy is not only pet stores that might be getting their puppies from puppy mills, but also from bogus operations on the internet, from people selling puppies through the classifieds, and even through personal one on one sales.

Wait a minute though, doesn’t that sound like any transaction you could have? After all there are only a limited number of ways in which you can get a puppy for yourself, and if you’re not a breeder yourself then your options of getting puppies are limited to the options including the ones mentioned above.

What you need to look at here then is not the overall picture of getting a puppy, but your individual case. If you conduct a thorough check in the place you’re getting your puppy from, be it from a pet store, a puppy breeder, an online puppy breeder or seller, or even through a classified advertisement, you can at least be sure that you are not getting your puppy from one of the puppy mills.

This is the most that you can do to stop puppy mills from flourishing. Many people will tell you that by getting your puppy from a pet store or a puppy breeder, it is tantamount to giving puppy mills the impetus to stay in business. This is just not the case.

There are many pet stores that don’t get their puppies from puppy mills, and there are many puppy breeders who run clean operations which are as far removed from puppy mills as chalk is from cheese. Many of these operations are sanctioned and certified as being the genuine article, and with a little research and diligence on your part you can contain your obtainment of a puppy to these places.

The Various Characteristics That You Can Expect In Your Yellow Lab Puppy

You have absolutely no idea what type of dog you want, you only know that your neighbor’s new dog is the cutest thing on four legs. The yellow Lab puppy which you saw in the pet store today staring at you from behind the plate glass window is even now tugging at your memory and you only just barely resist the urge to run down to the store and get it for yourself.

You want to get a dog and now that the germ of an idea has taken root in your head, you want your dog now! However, you’ve heard so many horror stories about dogs and owners not properly matching together, and heartrending stories where the dogs are so cruelly abandoned that you do think twice about impulsively getting the yellow Lab puppy.

Since you do want the yellow Lab puppy so badly however, you decide to give yourself a break and do a little research about the Labrador dog breed. By doing this you are ensuring that you get a better idea of what is expected of you in looking after your little yellow Lab puppy, and what you can expect back from the puppy as it matures to a full grown dog.

So the first thing that you will want to know is that most dogs have a generally long lifespan and the Labrador breed itself can live up to 12-13 years, and obviously depending on the dog, this can vary and you might find that your dog lives for a good 18-19 years. These are of course not the norm, but the point here is that getting a dog is a lifetime commitment. You need to know that you won’t get tired of the novelty of owning a dog and treat it carelessly or worse still abandon it.

Having gotten that out of the way, you can then go on to look at the various characteristics that you can expect in your yellow Lab puppy. These can be wide ranging, but most commonly you will find that Labradors are a very intelligent breed. They are very trainable and they have a gentle temperament. This makes them ideal companions for handicapped people, and many Labradors are taken for this purpose.

Labradors also have a gentle nature which makes the ideal pet for families with young children. If they are left alone, not exercised properly, or overfed they can become sedentary, and this is really the last thing that you want to do to your frisky energetic bundle of Labrador.

Play with your yellow Lab puppy, exercise it thoroughly and also make sure to shower it with loving care and attention and you can be assured that for years to come you will be awarded for your attentions.

You Have To Wait To See What Your Yorkie Bichon Mix Puppy Grows Up Into

It might sound odd when you think about it, but with so many cross bred dogs pooping up – both intentional and unintentional – there’s really nothing incredible about a Yorkie Bichon mix dog cropping up over time. What this means for potential dog owners, is something completely different of course.

If you’re looking at getting a Yorkie Bichon mix puppy but are not sure whether you want one, and more importantly are not sure what the mixed puppy will end up like, well, there’s only one thing to say: you’re not alone. No one can correctly predict what a mixed breed dog will turn out to be like, and this is true in all cases of mixed breed, or cross bred dogs.

To state the obvious, there’s a chance that the dogs could turn out to be predominantly like their Yorkie father/mother, or like their Bichon Frise mother/father. Unlike the Puggle mixed bred dog, for the Yorkie Bichon mix to be considered pure, the parents do not have to be specifically of own breed, i.e. you do not need to have a Bichon Frise mother and a Yorkie father, or vice versa. It can be either mix, as long the parents themselves are pure bred dogs.

And this is where it can sometimes become tricky when cross breeding dogs. Because no one dog breeder will necessarily have the entire lineage of a dog going back hundreds of years, it can be difficult to know for certain whether or not the ancestry of the parents themselves have been cross bred at any point in time. Sometimes genetic traits might hide themselves for a few generations, and might instead decide to manifest itself at this point when the dog breeders are going cross breeding the dogs.

The resulting dog can be one of the cutest things that you have ever seen, or it can be a hodgepodge of odds and ends. This however is very rare in good breeding programs, and if you want a good Yorkie Bichon mix then most likely you will get a good combination of a Yorkie Bichon mix.

What then would be the characteristics of such a dog, never mind the features of the dog? Well, unfortunately that too is not as easy to tell beforehand and most owners will have to wait to see what their Yorkie Bichon mix puppy grows up into: a predominantly Yorkie mix dog, or a predominantly Bichon mix dog. Whatever you do end up with though, you can be assured that you will get a warm and affectionate dog who is very loyal to you, and you really can’t ask for any more than that can you?
